Terms of Service — Cat Logger

By downloading or using Cat Logger, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Hudson understands. Not everyone is ready for the research.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Cat Logger. By using the app you confirm that you are. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission.

Cat Logger is a citizen science platform for logging, identifying, and cataloguing neighbourhood cats. Sighting data you submit is shared with other logged-in users. This is the point. You are a field researcher. Act accordingly.

You retain ownership of photos and content you submit to Cat Logger. By submitting content, you grant Cat Logger a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, and sublicense that content for any purpose — including operating the app, sharing with other users, and use in research as described in our Privacy Policy.

You warrant that you have the right to submit any content you post, and that it does not contain identifiable images of people without their consent.

You may request deletion of your content from the live platform at any time. This right does not extend to content already included in anonymised research exports or aggregated datasets.

You agree not to:

— Submit content you do not have the right to share
— Use the app for any unlawful purpose
— Attempt to access, interfere with, or reverse-engineer the app or its infrastructure
— Submit false or misleading sighting data
— Harass other users

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Cat Logger at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such action.

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Cat Logger is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Use it at your own risk. Hudson does his best. That is all we can promise.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cat Logger and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of data. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the app, which is zero.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Questions about these terms can be directed to the research team. Hudson will file them carefully.
